Board President
Lucy’s Board colleagues have elected her President of the CVESD Board multiple years in a row. Originally elected to the CVESD Board during the pandemic, Lucy faced many challenges as a board member, she brings consistency, calm, and collaboration to the dais. Lucy listens, researches and asks questions that are crucial to the efficient running of the school district.
“Being on the school board is about being informed on the decisions that are going to be made and keeping students at the center of all decision making. It is about doing and voting for the best interest of students and staff. It’s about listening and ensuring the needs of students across the district are being met–especially those who face the most barriers to opportunity. Being a trustee means representing all stakeholders and taking notice of all concerns, even when those concerns are difficult to hear and/or delivered in a negative manner. It’s about maintaining professionalism and stability during the decision-making process.”—Lucy Ugarte
